Valle de Carranza, is located in the westernmost part of Biscay. It is made up by 137 square kilometers of mountains and slopes, green hills and dense woods. Distributed all over the territory, there are 16 parishes, 49 small neighbourhoods and 2800 inhabitants who work mostly in stockbreeding. Thus, Valle de Carranza appears as the most important source of cattle in Biscay.
Encartaciones, is a vast area originally made up of 10 municipalities which constitute the transition zone between Biscay and Cantabria. It is, therefore, a land of cultural diversity, patent in its architectural heritage, traditions and customs. According to the popular belief, this area was a place where the fugitives use to hide from the justice.
Nowadays, it is the most unknown area of Biscay, the Bilbao´s Far West.
Carranza is famous because of its traditions, agriculture and especially its cattle industry.
